MORE than 100 dental experts gathered in Scotland for one of the sector’s most important annual events – leaving organisers delighted with the record-breaking turnout.

Fast-growing dental group Clyde Munro organised the two-day conference where its dentists, hygienists and other dental professionals from all over Scotland gathered to network and share knowledge.

A series of high-profile experts also gave keynote presentations on a range of topical subjects, ensuring attendees were able to notch up Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation, compulsory for staying in practice.

Meanwhile, a packed social diary also saw delegates from Clyde Munro practices let their hair down at the event, which has become a fixture in the Scottish dental calendar, doubling in size since last year.

Jim Hall, founder and Chief Executive of the Clyde Munro group said: “Our annual conference has become a hugely anticipated event. It is regarded as the industry networking event of the year.

“We are really grateful for the dedication that each and every practitioner working with Clyde Munro offers and we are delighted that we can get together as a clinical team at this unique event.

“It’s not every day that our dentists from across the country have the opportunity to network with over 100 of their colleagues and learn about the latest industry developments all while topping up their CPD.

“Each year the scale of the conference has grown with huge thanks to the support from our event sponsors; Philips, Carestream, DMG and MDDUS.”

Taking place at Stirling Court Hotel on November 8 and 9, the third Clyde Munro annual conference was its biggest to date. It was made possible with a five-figure investment from the group, which now comprises 32 practices with more than 160 associates, 320 staff and 270,000 patients across Scotland.

Clyde Munro is an entirely Scottish-based and Scottish-focused dental group. Since being founded in 2015 it has enjoyed rapid growth through acquisition.

Its ambition is to become Scotland’s “local dentist”, operating an expanding network of family dentists, with each devoted to providing the best dental care, while reflecting the needs and character of its community.

With further expansion planned, local practices retain the names and identities they have built over many years, while enjoying the benefits of being part of a bigger group.

Among the renowned speakers were the director of education of the British Society for Occlusal Studies as well as speakers from Philips, MDDUS and other dental organisations. Topics included occlusion (how positioning of teeth can affect headaches, jaw pain and other issues); periodontics (the study of gums and bone which support teeth); expert advice on the adoption of hi-tech Intra Oral Scanners and sessions on driving positive change within practices.

Live music and entertainment were included in the weekend’s line-up of events before a full day of conference talks and a trade show the following day.

A selection of trade stands were introduced to the event for the first time this year following attendees feedback from last year’s conference. They showcased the latest treatments, materials and supplies available to practices.
