CLYDE MUNRO’S LIFEBOAT VOLUNTEER CROWNED YOUNG CLINICIAN OF THE YEAR!

Published: 02 July 2019

This year’s Scottish Dental Awards saw Jane Patterson from our Torwood Dental Practice in Inverness take home the coveted title of Scotland’s Young Clinician of the Year.

From helping anxious brides achieve a perfect smile, to her work with autistic children, Jane’s natural ability to reassure her patients stood out to judges and put her ahead of the tough competition.

Originally from Ballynahinch in County Down, Northern Ireland, Jane has worked at our Torwood practice since 2012 – with her friendly manner and chatty personality proving popular amongst her patients.

Jane said: “When kids come in for treatment, I want to do anything I can to put them at ease so that in the future they will always see visiting the dentist as a positive experience.

“I’ll do whatever it takes, even if that means having a tea party on the floor to persuade a child to hop into the seat. And I’ve lost count of the number of treatments I’ve performed on teddies.”

Despite her busy day job, Jane manages to find time to volunteer on the RNLI’s Kessock Lifeboats as part of a 16-strong crew who provide a vital, lifesaving service to the local community.

The Torwood team joined Jane for a glittering night out at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel to watch her take home the accolade – one of the most sought-after in Scottish dentistry.

Jane added: “I couldn’t believe it when my name was read out. Comedian Fred MacAulay was the host and warned everyone to keep their acceptance speech to just three words.

“But I managed to sneak in four – ‘I love my girls’. That was for all the girls from work who were sitting at our table on the night. There’s a team of around 20 of us at Torwood and they are all brilliant.”

While Jane collected the Young Clinician of the Year award, our practice in Kenneth Street was also shortlisted for the dental team of the year award.

Congratulations again, Jane from everyone at Clyde Munro – your natural rapport with patients exemplifies the high standard of patient care we deliver across our practices. You’ve done your whole team and everyone else at Clyde Munro proud!
