INVISALIGN®

Teeth straightening

without braces

Clear, comfortable and convenient

If the word ‘orthodontics’ conjures up images of teens in train-track braces, you might be put off getting your teeth straightened. Luckily, with Invisalign, all that has changed. With no wires, no brackets and no braces, Invisalign offers a virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth. It’s like the secret agent of orthodontics! Invisalign works by using a series of clear and comfortable aligners that no one will be able to tell you’re wearing. They’re barely visible on your teeth and removable for when you want to eat, brush your teeth or attend a special social or professional event.

How Invisalign® works

At Clyde Munro, we’re certified providers of Invisalign across our practices in Scotland. We’ll take impressions of your teeth at your initial consultation and then custom-craft a prescribed number of aligners. Each set of aligners will be worn for approximately two-to-three weeks. After each incremental period of time, you’ll come back to us to collect the next set. Each set of aligners builds on the work the previous set has done to gently guide your teeth into the desired position and straighten your smile.

Why choose Invisalign?

The Invisalign system is ideal for anyone with a lifestyle that wouldn’t suit traditional metal braces. They’re definitely the treatment to choose if you have a busy social life, a professional role that puts you in the spotlight, or are simply image conscious because they’re invisible, removable for eating or cleaning your teeth – and you can even go brace-free for special events.

Is everyone suitable for Invisalign?

Designed for the front ‘smiling’ teeth, Invisalign may not be appropriate if you have more extensive orthodontic requirements. If, for example, there are deeper problems concerning bite and function, your dentist may recommend an alternative treatment.

What’s involved in the Invisalign treatment?

If your dentist agrees that you’re suitable for Invisalign, you’ll begin with a consultation during which you’ll be able to see a 3D time-lapse image of your teeth before, during and after treatment. We’ll take dental impressions, which will be sent to a lab so that your bespoke Invisalign retainers can be crafted. Then you’ll wear the retainers for the prescribed amount of time, returning to change them every few weeks until your treatment is complete.

How quickly will I see results?

This of course depends on your individual case, but typical treatment times are around nine months. We’ll likely fit a permanent retainer behind your teeth after treatment to maintain the results.
