Bellstane Dental Care is a friendly, family-orientated practice conveniently situated just off the High Street at the bottom of The Loan, South Queensferry. Our team at Bellstane Dental Care welcomes new and existing private and NHS patients with the aim of providing the highest standards of care and treatment in a relaxed, professional environment. Our dentists and dental hygienist therapist follow a policy of preventative dental care to keep you and your family’s mouths healthy and help prevent future dental problems.

At Bellstane Dental Care in South Queensferry we provide a comprehensive range of dental care including fillings, crowns, bridges, veneers and gum treatments as well as cosmetic dentistry, tooth whitening and sports mouth guards.

We are proud to be a Childsmile practice, part of the national programme designed to improve the oral health of children in Scotland and reduce inequalities in both dental health and access to dental services.

Two of our treatment rooms are on the ground floor with step-free access for those less mobile; one is readily available to wheelchair users and we have a wheelchair accessible toilet. A hearing induction loop is available to ensure we can communicate easily with all our patients.

Calum Cassie

Dentist

Calum graduated from Edinburgh University in 1987 and began his career in hospital dentistry before moving into dental practice in 1989. Having returned to Edinburgh in 1999, he is now firmly rooted in South Queensferry and enjoys treating the people who live around this historical and lively town.

Calum is particularly interested in the area of ethics and law and has recently completed a Masters degree in Medical Law. In his spare time Calum enjoys time with family and friends and keeping fit. He has been a keen cyclist, and also enjoys notching up the miles in the local swimming pool.

In addition to working at the practice, Calum is a vocational training adviser, with responsibility for mentoring and further training for new graduates in dental practice.

Ronan McGurk

Ronan graduated from Queens University Belfast and has been working at Bellstane since August 2009. He enjoys working in South Queensferry and attending to the dental needs of the friendly local people.

He is continually updating his knowledge and skills through a variety of courses and post graduate qualifications to ensure that patients are always receiving top quality treatment and advice.

In his spare time Ronan enjoys an array of sport and fitness activities – Gaelic football, running and cycling to name a few. His quieter spare time is spent with family and friends.

Ronan is also a Vocational Dental Trainer responsible for the training and development of a new dental graduate at our practice.

David Kenna

David graduated from Dundee Dental School in 2011 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Commendation and the Restorative award. After graduating, David moved to Edinburgh and joined Bellstane Dental Care. He enjoys meeting and developing a good rapport with his patients.

David enjoys socialising, keeping fit at the gym and travelling back to his native Northern Ireland to spend time with his family. He enjoys challenging himself and is embarking on postgraduate qualifications to fine tune and develop his skills.

Rachel Mulholland

Rachel graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2017. Following graduation, Rachel moved to Edinburgh where she is enjoying working as part of the team and meeting the local community in South Queensferry. Rachel is fully committed to establishing and developing strong links and a professional rapport with her patients.

Rachel enjoys socialising with friends and family and keeping fit either by playing Camogie, Gaelic football or going to the gym.

Conor Millar

Conor graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2018. He moved to Edinburgh to join Bellstane Dental Care. He is really enjoying living in the city and especially likes working in the town of South Queensferry. He is keen to build positive relationships with the patients he looks after and always aims to treat their dental needs in the best way he can.

Outside of dentistry Conor enjoys spending time with family and friends and enjoys going to the gym and playing hockey.

Jenna McColm

Originally from Linlithgow, Jenna moved to Glasgow to study Dental Hygiene and Therapy. Jenna works in a number of practices in the Edinburgh and Lothian area. She enjoys motivating patients to achieve a good level of oral hygiene by helping to create a tailored home care regime. She has experience working with different age groups and strives to ensure that her patients always feel relaxed and comfortable.

In her free time, Jenna enjoys walking her dog around the country parks of Edinburgh and Pilates.

Fiona Amit

Fiona started working as a trainee dental nurse after leaving school in 2007. She worked in Livingston and studied at Edinburgh Dental Institute where she obtained her dental nurse qualification in 2009. She also worked in Stirling and Edinburgh before joining Bellstane Dental Care in 2012.

Fiona recently completed the Cleanliness Champion Course and is going to take a practice management course to further improve and develop her knowledge.

Fiona enjoys spending her free time with family and friends at Stockcar Racing where several of her family member race.

Alexa McHale

Head Nurse

Alexa initially starting her career as a Veterinary Nurse but soon realised that she preferred the clinical side to her work and dealing with people. In 2000, following two years training in practice, Alexa gained her NEBDN qualification.

Alexa joined the Bellstane team in April 2017 and in December was promoted to Head Nurse, working alongside Fiona in a ‘job share’ arrangement.

Alexa gained the Cleanliness Champion qualification in 2012 and attended a Practice Management course in February 2018 as part of her on going career development

Most of her free time is spent caring for family. Alexa also enjoys going out with friends and taking in the odd ‘chick flick’.

NHS treatment fees

NHS dental examinations in Scotland are free of charge for everyone (though we may charge for failed appointments if no advance notice is given). Following your examination, you will be advised of any treatment required and the likely cost, unless you are eligible for free NHS dentistry. We accept NHS patients if they are exempt from paying under the terms of the NHS, otherwise patients may pay as they go or join our dental plan.
