Amy Tulloch grew up in Dumfries and Saudi Arabia. She trained at The University of Dundee. She also volunteered for the “East meets West’ program in Da Nang, Vietnam treating children with reduced access to dental care.
She is a big fan of skiing and took up a post in Aviemore following graduation in 2009. Amy met husband and fellow dentist, Scott when she subsequently came up to Orkney to work.
Amy is committed to postgraduate training and believes very strongly in continued education. She is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. Amy is currently completing a Master’s degree at Edinburgh University in Restorative Dentistry. Amy’s interests include cosmetic tooth straightening, tooth whitening and white fillings.

Scott grew up in Stromness before attending the University of Dundee to complete his Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Scott attended the University of Copenhagen’s Panum Institute for a semester of his final year through the ERASMUS student exchange scheme.
Following graduation in 2006, Scott attended the Edinburgh Dental Institute and took part in a comprehensive postgraduate training program, which involved work in several specialist departments. Scott successfully completed his Royal College of Surgeons membership exam at the end of this training.
Scott was then awarded the rural fellowship in 2009. He worked in Orkney whilst undertaking a Master’s Degree in Restorative Dentistry through the University of Edinburgh, which he completed in 2012. Scott is particularly interested in the treatment of gum disease, placement of dental implants and more complex restorative treatments.
Scott then took a sabbatical to New Zealand with his wife and fellow dentist, Amy, where they undertook research and teaching at the University of Otago as well as working in private dental practice. Scott has a love of travel, which has also involved volunteer dental work in the Peruvian Amazon and in Southern Uganda.
Scott and Amy were married in August 2013 and are delighted to be settling down in Orkney where they hope their postgraduate training and enthusiasm for their profession will be of benefit to the local community for many years to come.

Calum grew up in Aberdeenshire before attending Dundee Dental School. During his final year he spent time in remote and rural locations including Orkney, Shetland and rural Fife.
Following graduation in 2011, Calum returned to Orkney and took up a vocational training post in Stromness. Since that time, he has been working for NHS Orkney. Calum is interested in special care dentistry and the management of dental anxiety in adults and children.
Outside dentistry Calum enjoys the community feel of Orkney and has taken up fencing.

Michelle grew up in Stromness. After leaving Stromness Academy she studied BSc Medical Sciences (Hons) at the University of Edinburgh, before going on to study for her Bachelor of Dental Surgery as a postgraduate student at the Aberdeen Dental School. During her training she did placements in Aberdeen, Elgin and Stornoway. She had always hoped to move back home to work so was delighted to get a job at home with Orkney Dental.
After eight years of city life Michelle is excited to be back home around friends and family. She has a keen interest in the local folk music scene, having played the fiddle from a young age. She also enjoys long walks around Orkney, cooking at home and eating out at local restaurants.

Scott grew up in Houston, near Paisley in the west of Scotland. He trained at Dundee University and worked in general practice in Inverness, before moving up to Orkney to join the Kirkwall team.
Scott enjoys most aspects of dentistry, but he is particularly interested in complex restorative and aesthetic work, and root canal treatment. He has also nearly completed his postgraduate training to join the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow, and following this looks to carry on with further postgraduate studies.
Despite having no connections to Orkney, Scott has quickly embraced the lifestyle (if not the accent) of island life. His interests include cycling, hillwalking, and photography, and he is partway through his grand plan of touring the Northern Isles. In a past life he was also very musical and still manages to play the piano and take part in musical productions throughout the year.

Dr Alice Bowen graduated from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland before moving to Orkney to join Orkney Dental’s Clinical Team.
As an islander herself, Alice was delighted with the opportunity to move to Orkney and embrace a more outdoor lifestyle; joining local netball and football teams since moving and considering taking-up sailing – watch out Scott.
As a dentist Alice is passionate about providing good evidence-based dentistry, which is reflected in her contribution to research in children’s dentistry and craniofacial surgery, where her work has been presented internationally.
Alice is currently undertaking her MFDS exams with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, as she looks to continue contributing and developing in dentistry.

Arlene is from Stromness. She has worked locally for a number of years and is a well-known and greatly respected dentist. Arlene enjoys all aspects of general dentistry.
Alli has many years of experience within the world of dentistry. She is involved in the dental nurse training process, which she finds very rewarding. Alli has a great many strengths and her ability to organise projects efficiently, her warmth and her interpersonal skills make her an excellent manager.
She enjoys walking and recently walked the Great Glen with friends. She also completed the Hoy half marathon. She is a very talented baker which all at Orkney Dental appreciate!
Emma joined the team in summer of 2018 having previously built up over 5 years of experience as a dental nurse. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry. Patient comfort is of primary importance to Emma and she is very good with dentally anxious, bringing an air of calm into the surgery.
In her spare time, Emma is a keen runner and enjoys participating in local events. To relax, Emma practices the art of calligraphy, playing the violin and spending time with family.
Gemma is a very experienced and competent dental nurse. Gemma is from Birsay but now lives in Deerness. She enjoys general dentistry and has additional expertise assisting with dental implants and Childsmile clinics. She is a gifted violinist. She also enjoys hockey and still plays for her local team, Dounby.
Practice Coordinator / PCC
Cherise or ‘Little Miss Sunshine’, as we like to call her, is a very talented dental nurse. As her nickname suggests she is a very friendly and upbeat young woman and always fun to be around. Cherise has attained excellence in all of her dental nursing exams and graduated with very impressive results. She has a wonderful sense of style and is very interested in fashion and music.
Joanne is a very calming influence within the dental surgery. Steady, reassuring and warm she is a valued member of the team. Jo is a very accomplished sportswoman and has many sporting achievements to her name.

Geoff grew up in Evie, Orkney and went on to study dentistry in Dundee where he graduated in 2008. He recently joined Orkney Dental after spending the last 7 years working in the centre of Glasgow providing, along side general dentistry, Invisalign and facial aesthetics including fillers and anti wrinkle treatment. He has a keen interest in restorative dentistry. He met his wife, a primary school teacher, in Glasgow and they have two young daughters who have loved the move to Orkney and also now attend Evie primary school. Outside of work Geoff enjoys spending time with his family, football and motorsports.
