Missing Teeth? We Have the Right Solution for You

Published: 20 July 2022

If you have missing teeth, we understand the problems with eating, speaking and laughing that you may be faced with. Gaps in your smile present daily struggles around the aesthetics of your smile, and the function of your teeth, too. Missing teeth can cause difficulty eating your favourite foods due to an alteration to your bite, or problems with speech as it can be hard to pronounce certain words and sounds. This can cause a lack of confidence that affects all areas of your life, including work, relationships and your social time.

That’s why we at Clyde Munro are pleased to offer multiple teeth replacement options for patients who have a single missing tooth or several teeth missing. Our options are designed to give you back both the function of your teeth and the aesthetics of your smile, and we will always work with you to find the right solution for your specific needs.

Dentures

Dentures are the most common, affordable, and traditional method of tooth replacement. Dentures are false teeth that can be worn all day and removed at night for cleaning and sleeping. They are bespoke made for each patient to fit comfortably over your gums and they will stay in place by natural suction, as well as denture adhesive for additional security.

Your dentures will be created for you by the dental laboratory that we work in close partnership with. We will start by discussing your smile desires with you to ensure that the result looks exactly the way you want it to. The dentures will be crafted using the highest quality dental materials available to offer beautiful aesthetics, a high quality of strength that you can rely on, and an excellent fit. By working collaboratively with you and our dental laboratory, your new dentures will be comfortable for all-day wear, enable you to eat your favourite foods, and give you back the smile and confidence you deserve.

Dental implants

Dental implants have been increasing in popularity in recent years as they are a permanent solution to replace multiple teeth or single teeth. The reason dental implants work so well is that they are designed to mimic natural teeth.

Dental implants are made up of two parts, the implant itself is a titanium post or screw that is surgically placed into the jawbone, below the gumline. This part will not be seen but it is extremely important as it acts as the replacement tooth root, providing a strong and secure foundation for your replacement tooth. The second part is the replacement tooth section, called a crown. This will be seen above the gumline and will look just like a natural tooth, so we will ensure it looks highly aesthetic. It will be used to eat, bite, and chew, so it also needs to be strong and functional. To ensure your new crown fits seamlessly with the rest of your smile, we will share information about the shade, shape and size of the new tooth with the dental laboratory, where your new tooth will be expertly created using the best dental materials available.

Dental implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth, a full arch of teeth, or even to secure dentures in place. Your dentist will be able to explain the best course of treatment for your exact needs.

Dental implants are a more expensive tooth replacement option because they offer a more permanent solution that will last many years with the right oral care regime in place. Your Clyde Munro dental team will work with you to maintain your new smile with advice, dental check-ups, and hygiene appointments to help you protect your investment in your smile for the long term.

Dental bridges

Another very natural-looking treatment option for missing teeth is a dental bridge. This is where the remaining healthy teeth on either side of the gap are used as anchors. A crown is fitted over each tooth, with false teeth attached in the middle to bridge the gap. At Clyde Munro, we only place dental crowns of the highest quality to ensure excellent aesthetics, strength, and function, for a seamless smile.

Dental bridges offer a more affordable treatment option compared to dental implants, offering a great solution for patients with enough healthy tooth structure in place. By filling the gap in your smile with a dental bridge, you can prevent the teeth on either side from moving, which can happen due to the new space available. When teeth move like this, they can cause issues with your bite, making it difficult to eat and chew, so it is important to consider your tooth replacement options when you lose a tooth.
