Protect Your Smile,
Play With Confidence
Whatever sport you play, you still play to win. But is victory worth costing your winning smile? It doesn’t have to be.
Wearing a mouthguard lets you focus on the game while protecting your teeth from being chipped, broken, or knocked out. It also cushions your lips, cheeks, and tongue, while supporting jaw joints and protecting braces or dental implants. We’ve seen the damage that sporting injuries cause – painful injuries that affect speech and confidence. We developed Mouthguards for better protection.
How does it work?
We take dental impressions or digital scans at all Clyde Munro dental Practices, making the process simple and convenient. Your impression is sent to our Edinburgh lab, where our experienced technician creates a precise model of your mouth. A custom-fitted mouthguard is then crafted and sent back to your practice. The result is a perfectly fitted mouthguard offering optimum protection that won’t shift during impact. Our mouthguards have been trusted by professional athletes for nearly two decades and are used by Scottish Rugby Union, Team Scotland and Scotland’s Hockey Teams.

Why choose Mouthguards?
| Feature | Custom-Fitted | Boil-and-Bite (BnB) |
|---|---|---|
| Fit | Individually crafted from dental impressions/digital scans for a precise, accurate fit — no second appointment needed | Self-moulded at home, often loose or bulky; may require adjustments |
| Protection | Superior protection against impact; stays secure during play | Limited protection; may shift or fall out during impact |
| Comfort | Designed to fit snugly without affecting speech or breathing | Can feel bulky, uncomfortable, and may restrict breathing/speech |
| Injury Prevention | Reduces risk of chipped, broken, or knocked-out teeth; protects soft tissue, jaw joints, braces, and implants | Offers some protection but less effective against fractures, luxations, or avulsions |
| Durability | Long-lasting, designed for repeated use | Wears down quickly, may need frequent replacement |
| Customisation | Option for team colours, logos, and sportspecific thickness | Limited or no customisation |
| Trusted By | Scotland’s Rugby & Hockey teams | Rarely used at professional level |
